Blue Series
Triads, modes, scales, classical and pop harmony: the complete tonal foundation
Basic 84 lessons

The complete foundation in classical and pop harmony. Triads, modes, scales, how chord progressions move, and how music works as a language. By the end of Blue you understand tonal harmony from the inside out, and you can hear it happening in everything you play.

Orientation
How music works as a language, how InsidePiano is structured, and what the modern musician mindset requires.
Musical Concepts
Scales, modes, intervals, time, swing, seventh chords, chord progressions, and symmetrical materials as a unified vocabulary.
Harmony & Counterpoint
The IV-V-I, II-V-I, and I-VI-II-V progressions through ascending and descending voice leading in all 12 keys.
Passing Notes & Scale Phrasing
Passing tones around each tonal center combined with arpeggio-and-scale phrasing across all 12 keys.
Dominant Pentatonic
The dominant pentatonic scale (chord tones plus the ninth) applied over the 1-b7 shell in every key.
Boogie-Woogie
A six-part series covering the 12-bar blues structure, walking bass patterns, right-hand independence, and improvisation themes.
Quartal Chords
Stacked-fourth chords applied to II-V progressions with bossa nova rhythm as a first approach to jazz voicings.
Melodic Cells
Two-, three-, and four-note cells drawn from major, minor, pentatonic, blues, and Arabic scales as building blocks for improvisation.
Popular Progressions
Seven of the most common progressions in popular music learned as practical accompaniment patterns in all 12 keys.
Harmonic Motion
Chord inversions used to create smooth melodic motion through common progressions in all 12 keys.
Chord Melody
Connecting chord changes with a continuous melodic line across nine progressions, combining harmonic motion and passing notes.
Pentatonic Mastery
The minor pentatonic from basic linear shapes through open motion, quartal arpeggios, and hyper-modern four-note patterns in every key.
Red Series
Seventh chords, jazz progressions, extensions, and scale-chord relationships
Intermediate 112 lessons

The jazz harmony layer. Red takes everything Blue established in classical and pop harmony and rebuilds it with seventh chords, extensions, and jazz progressions. By the end you have a working command of the chord vocabulary modern pianists actually use: rootless voicings, altered dominants, quartal harmony, and you understand how it all connects.

Foundations
Major 7, dominant 7, and sixth chord shapes alongside blues and bebop scales, with extensions understood as superimposed structures.
Breaking Down Extended Chords
Maj9 and Min9 chords broken into superimposed triads, tritone substitutions, the altered scale, and Maj7/9 voicings built and phrased.
The 13th Chord
Rootless 13th chord voicings built from the Maj7(b5) shape and applied to the II-V-I in all 12 keys.
Hexatonic Scales
The major hexatonic scale reframed as a six-note even improvisation tool over Maj7 chords that eliminates avoid notes.
Altered Dominant Chords
Every common altered dominant voicing: 7(b9), 7(b9,11), 7(#9), 7(#9,b13), and 13th chord variants, each placed in II-V-I context with corresponding scales.
Blues & Variable Scales
Left-hand bass and chord coordination, blues scale extended to four octaves, and the variable blues scale over I7-IV7 in all keys.
The II-V-I-VI Progression
Built from rootless left-hand voicings through jazz phrases, blues mode application, overlapping hands technique, walking bass, and chord shells in all 12 keys.
Quartal Harmony
A complete system of five-note stacked-fourth voicings for every chord quality, with two inversions each, drilled chromatically and applied to Autumn Leaves.
Rootless Chords
The complete rootless chord system in both inversions for all chord qualities and every extended dominant voicing, navigated by shortest distance and applied to Autumn Leaves.
Gold Series
Melodic phrases, solo construction, and improvisation over changes
Advanced 87 lessons

Improvisation on top of the Red harmonic layer. Gold is about developing melodic language: how to construct a phrase, how to build a solo, how to improvise over changes rather than just play through them. The blues in multiple keys is the main vehicle, with bebop vocabulary, playing outside, and playing with a band as the performance context.

Foundations & Blues Setup
Jazz scales, minor improvisation, passing chords, walking basslines in all 12 keys, and tritone comping over the 12-bar blues.
Elements of the Solo
Charlie Parker's Donna Lee used to dissect solo construction: augmented arpeggios, bebop variations, chromatic progressions, triplet ornaments, and tritone substitutions.
Improvisation Series
Improvisation built from one note up: rhythm first, then intervals, swing articulation, chromatic motion, passing notes, and major and augmented triad approaches.
F7 Blues Left-Hand System
Mapping left-hand accompaniment across four keyboard registers using 1-b7 formulas, tritone shells, and rootless chords to free the right hand to improvise.
Blues Variable & Jazz Scales
Blues variable scale, relative minor blues, jazz minor variable scale, and hybrid scales built from dominant arpeggio extensions, applied to the 12-bar blues.
Advanced Phrasing & Standards
Major phrasing with bebop flavor, treating progressions as linear rather than chord-by-chord, anchoring solos with melodic ideas, and II-V-I phrases with rootless comping.
Blues in C7 and G7
Complete blues performance in two keys: left-hand register mapping, chromatic outside playing with triad pairs, dominant diminished scale phrases, and full solo development from scratch.
Bb7 Blues & Bebop Phrasing
Bb7 blues for playing with horn players, plus a five-part bebop series covering approach notes, enclosures, II-V-I-VI turnarounds, and extended 8-measure phrase arcs in all keys.
